In June 2022, the fourth book of Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos was published under the title “Disinformation and fake news on the internet”. The book was edited by “Nomiki Bibliothiki” and contains a preface by the emeritus Professor of NKUA and former Rector of DUTH Yiannis Panousis. In this book, which consists the postdoctoral thesis of Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos, the legal, criminological and technological ramifications of misinformation and fake news on the internet are presented in a scientifically innovative way.
In the first part of the book, some significant points of interest are the role of technology in the creation, exacerbation and prevention of the phenomenon of fake news, the analysis of the legal provisions as well as the criminological reflections on the practices and limits in the prevention of disinformation. In the second part, a field research on internet users conducted by the postdoctoral author and the research group that he scientifically directed is presented. The main focus of the project is tο to set up new dimensions of the preventive measures of disinformation. Based on its results, Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos presents his proposals for the development of an anti-crime policy and the formation of a relevant regulatory framework.
